BIOGRAPHY & PHILOSOPHY
I was born in 1959. Between 1976 and 1979, I studied at Amersham Art College where, specialising in fine art, I gained a Bucks Art Diploma with Distinction. In 1982, I studied Glass Blowing and Engraving at Dudley College in Brierley Hill, West Midlands before meeting and later working for stained glass artist Joseph Nuttgens at his studio on Piggotts Hill near High Wycombe. For the last few years, I have been developing my painting, mostly working in oils. I regularly exhibit at open studio events and have previously had my work shown at the Mall Galleries, London.
My paintings are born out of a desire to capture a moment in time through paint and other mediums. I am very much drawn to the energy and essence of my subject whether it be a bunch of flowers on a kitchen table, a landscape, an interesting interior or a person. Colour really excites me. Each colour has its own energy which I am always striving to encapsulate in my paintings. I also enjoy the way light and space play their part too. I paint quickly, hoping to bring movement to my work as I believe that nothing stays still.
